Opportunities that not many people have - Anahis Cuarezma

Opportunities that not many people have

Sports provide opportunities to people who have few other opportunities. It’s clear that sports are all over the world and that there are different ways to play the same game but ¿does it provide opportunities? And if it does, ¿what are those opportunities?. In this writing I’ll present 3 different opportunities that sports provide like scholarships, to travel around the world and to help improve the way of living of their families.

Sports in some cases allow the athlete to study a career with a sports scholarship. Some athlete’s family’s don´t have the money to send their son or daughter to college and sports are an option available to earn a scholarship if the boy or girl doesn’t has the grade to apply for an academic scholarship.

Sports also let the athletes travel all over the world and learn about different cultures and different customs. The varied travels would allow them to meet people from China, Australia and many other countries and create friendships or just a relationship of companionship. An advantage of the different travels is that people all over the world has different points of view about the polemic topics which in turn creates an interesting conversation revolved around this topic, giving the opportunity to the athletes to socialize.

Also, if the athlete’s family is poor, with his or her salary the athlete would be able to help improve the living situation of his or her family. For example, Román “Chocolatito” González was able to improve not only his way of living but also his mother’s and the community where he grew up. In conclusion, although sports have downsides they also provide different opportunities to people that wouldn’t have it otherwise.
